For those of us who love to read books, books are an addiction … When we read a book, we want to forget the misery of real life and sink into the imaginary world created by the author. When reading a book gives that unique feeling, no adjective seems enough for that book. After reading the huge novel ‘Gilgamesh’ by the writer Zahid Hossain, I am in such a daze.
Your story spreads
Seven seas and thirteen rivers are crossed
People die, but does the story ever die?

📝 Story-summary: Amit, son of Pir dynasty, is a university student, his full name is Syed Shah Fateh Gill. Amit’s grandfather used to call him ‘Gilgamesh’. King of Kings, Urukraj, is the name of the main character of the first epic of the world. In his last years, the man started writing advice for his grandson in a diary. Amit alias Gilgamesh’s life will be eventful, this is what he believed in his heart.
▪️Only one failure in SP Feroz Ahmed’s long successful career stings him like a thorn, and that failure is called ‘Horse Killer’. The infamous serial killer, who caused horrific panic across the country several years ago. This murderous child with a perverted mentality would have raped the girls and left them brutally murdered. And while doing these demonic deeds, he sang the song of the famous band ‘Mohiner Ghodaguli’ from Kolkata. Feroz Ahmed could not catch the horse killer who was always one step ahead of the police even after touching him several times.

The world famous magician ‘Colonel Kalahan’ lost his whole family in a horrible accident in Berlin. He has traveled all over the world and is now in Bangladesh. Amit has developed a heartfelt relationship with his daughter Shaila Rahman. Will the magician who always keeps himself under the mask accept this relationship?
হThe Himadri River flows past the town of Mofasbal Rankeli, the original name of this river is ‘Kaput’. There are many folk tales about this river, most of which are terrifying. The bodies of six children have recently been found on the banks of the Kaput River in Rankeli. Someone brutally murdered them, the ribs were broken, the hearts of the unfortunate children were taken out and the eyes were uprooted. Ranakeli fell into the hands of a psychopath again?

DB’s senior investigator Syed Shah Fateh Gill was sent to Rankeli to investigate the horrific serial killings. It is not yet clear who is the hunter and who is the victim.
তেAt the beginning of creation, the ancestor of the gods, Kurut, expelled his first child, Th-K. What was the crime of th? Why did he have to leave Devlok? Why is he having to travel all over the world today after so long?
That which is lost, never comes back. As conditions change, the hunter becomes the prey, and the prey the hunter. Who will become a hunter in Ranakelite? Who else will be the victim?
Do people who have been searching for immortality for ages really see immortality, or do they accept eternal death in the natural order of nature?

📝 Response: A thriller novel of about four hundred pages. Ever since I finished reading, I’ve been in a trance. I read it !! The response to this book is far from over, I can’t think of a genre to which the book belongs. Well, Gilgamesh is the oldest epic in the world … but is the book a mythological thriller? But … from the beginning it was ‘dark comedy’, then a touch of ‘supernatural’, then suddenly it feels like ‘psycho thriller’, then you realize that it is pure ‘crime thriller’, finally ‘urban fantasy’ !! All these geniuses have merged in this novel.

The author’s ‘character formation’, ‘plot build-up’ are all appropriate in the novel. The author has divided this great story into two parts, ‘Rise’ and ‘Fall’. The opening part deals with the college life of ‘Syed Shah Fateh Gill’ or ‘Amit’ and the events around it. The story progresses slowly but interestingly in the author’s beautiful storytelling style. In the second part all those characters suddenly disappear, some brand new characters and the events around them. Still, the story progresses at a smooth pace, with occasional moving scenes and twists and turns. At the same time, the author has advanced two ‘serial killing’ sequences of two different periods with equal efficiency. Sometimes it’s a thrilling scene of a horrible serial killer being chased, but sometimes the author hears ‘mythical tales’ … which are directly and indirectly related to the main context of the story.
I read chapter after chapter of that book with strange attraction, as if the book has pulled its reader like a magnet. Towards the end I thought the book would have been better if it had been bigger. A beautiful ending to a novel in such a long, breathtaking, deep setting also introduces a calligrapher … and the author is completely successful in this regard. When writing about such a vast background and many characters, there are many gaps in the plot, but in this story, the writer Zahid Hossain has skillfully put together all the clues … which in a word is ‘impeccable’.

My first acquaintance with the writing of the writer Zahid Hossain was through the novel ‘One pair of eyes seeks another pair of eyes’, which was a perfect lovecraftian thriller. The author says in the introduction of this novel that he cannot write poetry, but I really like the poem that he has in the novel. Reading the poem reminds me again of the extraordinary adventures of Urukraj ‘Gilgamesh’.
