There is nothing new to be said about the popularity of social stories or novels based on psychological stories of individual life in world literature. , Those who prefer to read such writing, be entertained. You can also find many writers of this genre who are writing regularly. Similarly, Tanvir Anoy is a young novelist.

In his personal thoughts, in his life style, there is a free combination of various frustrations, cries, love, joys and sorrows of civic life, which any reader can understand by reading his novel “Punyah”.

I have already mentioned that “Punyah” is a social novel where “Farzana” and “Shamita” are the two main characters of the novel. The completeness of a story depends on the success of its characters. Without a strong main character, it is difficult to move a story forward. So it is better not to have more than one main character in a story. The side characters like Mahfuz, Prachi, Jerin, Kaushik, Joseph, Liton Saheb, Anis Saheb should not be annoying to the reader, so their presence and presence in the story was equally interesting in the twists and turns of different events. The story revolves around them at different times Every turn of it is able to keep a reader immersed in a new sense of life. So I am sure that a reader will get equal reading pleasure by reading each and every layer of the novel.
But apparently the context of this story is very simple. The story continues with the family, social and personal biographies of two forty-year-old women named Farzana and Shamita. They have a very simple lifestyle. But the author wants to portray all contemporary Bengali women through the characters of Farzana and Shamita.

The author has repeatedly pointed out that our socio-economic, familial customs and restrictions are leaning towards masculinity, and Farzana and Shamita are the replicas of a woman who is being crushed in the throes of that masculinity.

Not to mention the previous marriage at the time of marriage, – to get the title of an honest mother. Again arranging the marriage in spite of her reluctance to seize the land inherited by Shamita; Farzana and Shamita did not have any complaints about these. They were adapting well. But all of a sudden, rumors started circulating that Farzana was involved in immoral activities after breaking up her family and leaving her job. When Farzana was tired and crushed by all the allegations, Shamita extended her helping hand to him that day. The hand that gave Farzana the strength to live anew, got an unknown life-long inspiration.

Is the relationship between these two women actually friendship or love? While reading the novel, the reader may suffer from anxiety about the duplicity of their relationship. However, it is like a story of indeterminate, indescribable love. Which is not commonly seen in this society.
At one point, Farzana decided that she would get rid of this family life. Life is hers, her decision to continue that life is also hers. But in such a decision, her husband attacked her, made her bloody. This is the end of the story. “It’s not over yet!”
In the author’s thoughts, “Punya-Apunya’s reckoning is done. Punyah is done.”
Personal opinion
Tanvir has tried to compose the novel “Punyah” in other clear language. He has built a huge vocabulary with short sentences in the whole novel. In fact, he has written the novel in a very clear language, which is really capable of attracting a reader quickly. In the whole novel, however, the use of analogy and perspective is not very noticeable. An unlimited sense of sadness, wailing, anxiety in the text of the novel will hold the reader on all fours till the very last page. This is definitely the result of a great combination of the writer’s imagination and reality. Because it seemed to me that the author’s novel should have been further enhanced, even if it was for the success or perfection of the characters. Some spelling mistakes have come to our notice. Again, some have gone back and forth in terms of sentence structure.
