‘Bhatful’ is a kind of white flower that grows carelessly on the side of the road. Many of us may not know. In the same way, even if we keep the happiness of life at hand, we cannot easily find it.
You will find some such wonderful lines in Shanjana Alam’s novel “Cardamom Flower”.
Story summary:
Cardamom is three sisters. Clove, cardamom and saffron. Named after her grandmother because of her love of spices. They grew up in a large extended family. Uncles, aunts, parents, sisters, housewives all had a great day. But their elder aunt and cousin Palash do not live with them. But why? Palash brother likes cardamom. But will cardamom hold his hand?
The novel “Cardamom Flower” is a different life story of each person.

After a long time, I read a novel which has cut a mark on the inside of my chest. It cannot be said that there was so much fascination in every line. The book is written in such a simple, fluent language. The strongest thing in writing seems to be Maya. Again and again it seemed like Areh, this is the story in front of my eyes. Or in some places I thought I might be a cardamom.
I have never seen such a beautiful description of the village environment. Having spent my childhood in the village, I was able to become very united in every description. Hijal floating fruit, the scent of lemon flowers, picking mangoes in the storm of Kalavaishakhi, dew like pearls on the grass, above all, my childhood seemed to come up. I could see every scenario in front of my eyes.
I like Tanu’s self-esteem very much. Maybe he could have adapted but he would have become smaller to himself. The author did not make him small, but arranged for him to live with his head held high. I liked this part very much.
All love, fascination ends at one time. But what actually ends? Or the feeling of ending the change in the person you love. Love may remain in the corner of the mind. In the course of time, that love becomes a home for someone else. Love changes color. Comes back in a new way, in a new way. These aspects are also beautifully highlighted in the book.
When Elachi went out to study, I felt the same way about her. I am also familiar with this problem of cardamom. I suffered the most for Palash Bhai. Poor food!
After reading the book, sometimes I laughed, sometimes I cried, sometimes a lot of sadness came and filled my mind, as if my mind was filled with the joy of receiving it. Overall, the novel is very readable, of course
I am concluding the article with some favorite lines of the novel.
1. There is no need to get married as long as the girl cannot be human to human.
2. One of the great imperfections of life is that the mind cannot always be spoken.
3. As time goes on, the pages of memory become heavier.
